Update: second skirmish done with the M60. Solid all day. Got dropped and kicked and ran into several trees (All by accident) - so far the tightened bolts holding the receiver in conjunction with the foam spacer are holding tight.
The foregrip is a bit looser but it doesnt affect operation in any way.

Probably have put 6 bags of ammo thru it by now (~18000-20000rds) and so far no problems feeding or erratic firing behavior or odd sounds from the gearbox.
Remembering I have an M140 spring in it netting 380fps (see above for reason why) with zero airleaks. It also has a CA sector gear after the A&K one broke before I even skirmished it.

I did in between the first and second skirmish install a madbull tightbore inner barrel and a Big Out H hopup nub.

Operationally its not as user friendly as the M249 - the boxmag is off to the side and that unbalances teh gun and cannot be used as a makeshift bipod, is harder to deal with the battery, the foregrip is oddly placed, etc - but it is a fun gun, no doubt about it. Its growing on me nicely.

UPDATE:

As you use the sling mounts the gun's front end will eventually loosen up. To tighten the front end, you need to tighten where the outer barrel is mated to the gas tube.

To do that, first unscrew the rheostat cover. Then you need to remove the rheostat. Two phillips screws on the bottom come off and it slides right out the front. Now you can see down into the first hole and in there is a grub screw (hex) that tightens the clamp the gas tube has on the outer barrel. You'll need a good long allen key to reach it.

Ares M60 4000 Rounds Box Magazine (New Design)

Hi, Hillslam

Will Ares M60 4000 Rounds Box Magazine (New Design) work with the A and K m60?
Looking to replace the one that fired.

Thanks, Dallas

No.

And stay as far away from Ares support guns as possible. "New Design" this or that or no. They suck.
Worst designed boxmag and gearbox I've ever seen.
